Hey, Thinking of You

How you opt in to texts

Hey, Thinking of You · text message program

The short version

What we send

Hey, Thinking of You is a free, donation-supported service that sends subscribers one short, positive, encouraging text message a day, at the time they choose, in English or Spanish. On a subscriber's birthday, if they shared it, that day's text is a birthday message. We never send marketing or promotional messages.

The steps, in order

  1. Email. On heythinkingofyou.com, the person enters their email and receives a one-time 6-digit code. Entering it proves the email is theirs.
  2. Details and consent. They enter their first name and US mobile number, choose a delivery time, language and style, and check an unchecked box. The box is not selected by default, and the form can't be submitted without it. Its exact wording is below.
  3. Confirmation text (double opt-in). We check that the number is a real mobile phone, then send one text: "Hey, Thinking of You: Hi [name]! Reply YES to get 1 kind text a day at [time]. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to cancel."
  4. They reply YES. Only then do daily texts begin. If they never reply, no daily texts are sent.

The consent checkbox, word for word

Yes, text me one kind message a day (1 msg/day). Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to cancel, HELP for help. I agree to the Texting Terms and Privacy Policy.

"Texting Terms" links to terms.html and "Privacy Policy" links to privacy.html. Consent isn't a condition of anything: the service is free, and people can use the rest of the website without signing up for texts.
